The Uncle Frog Blog

The day was cold and damp. The yardwork debris can hold off enough day. As luck would have it, a fresh yet temporary blanket of snow would later cover up the unchecked chore. A perfect day for Uncle Frog to give the Bacon Explosion a whirl.

With two pounds of super thick-cut bacon and two pounds of freshly ground Italian breakfast sausage, how could things possibly look brighter? I know … cheese. Lots and lots of fancy shredded cheese. And a few slices of colby-jack to add to the celebrations. There is no better way to commemorate a milestone birthday than to put a twist on a Bacon Explosion … add cheese and it’s the bomb. A bacon bomb!

Get in the groove with an R&B frog on the road as Road Frog sings his nasty tune. This creative video highlights a dirty mouth frog singing some hip-hop shenanigans on a raunchy road trip. The rubber frog lip synchs to this popular song. It’s actually quite humorous and entertaining.

Delicious “frogaritos” are an easy meal or snack.  Simply heat up your favorite hot dog on a flour tortilla with cheese, add condiments, roll up and eat away.  It’s a tasty twist on an American classic food.

OMG! How freakin’ funny is this one?!?  This beautiful yellow infant t-shirt was given to us as a Baby Shower gift by a fellow CafePress shopkeeper with an awesome sense of humor.  Our daughter is going to get lots of laughs and smiles from friends and strangers alike when she’s old enough and big enough to wear this hilarious toddler t-shirt.

OK, so this simple text design had us all laughing our new-parent butts off.  Burgundy text on a white infant bodysuit that says “Hi! Fishes, hearts, stars and a gull create a heart-warming Circle of Love on a baby bib given generously as a Baby Shower gift from a fellow CafePress shopkeeper to honor the birth and life of our baby daughter.  How touching and fitting, considering the circle of life and the circle of love. 

One of the best things about being a parent is gaining the ability to live one’s own life again, but vicariously through another.  The games and toys we were fond of as a child, we can yet again play but this time with a child of our own.  One of the fond memories your Uncle Frog has is playing Duck, Duck, Gooseout in the yard at recess in elementary and junior high.  So this particular Baby Shower gift we received from a fellow CafePress shopkeeper brings back some cherished memories for certain.

Our darling newborn daughter is a big eater.  She’s grown from five pounds four ounces when she was born seven and half weeks ago to approximately eight and half pounds now.  She has her Daddy’s double chin; how adorable!  So when we received this Slurp and Burp Club  toddler t-shirt as a CafePress shopkeeper Baby Shower gift, we were absolutely thrilled.  How fitting is this funny baby club t-shirt?!

Elephants have a long memory.  At least that’s what I think I remember from school about elephants.  But Uncle Frog isn’t an elephant, and therefore shouldn’t be expected to have a long memory.  That being said, we will definitely remember this wonderful baby shower gift from a fellow CafePress shopkeeper sporting a cute blue elephant on an infant bodysuit.  Our darling daughter is going to love, love, love this!

We are slowly but surely learning the cures for the common cries.  Our six week old daughter is a precious little gem.  She’s a treasure that we absolutely adore.  But she’s human.  And not very experienced at being human.  Therefore there are periods of time where she’s just plain fussy.  We go through the check list to see if her diaper needs changing, if gentle rocking will do the trick, she won’t take a pacifier (except the Pinky Binky described in an earlier article), how long has it been since her last meal, and so on and so forth.

One basic staple of our fussiness fixing sessions is the Baby Einstein Lullaby Classics Music CD.  She loves the music.  It helps to sooth her.  Sometimes it take a little while, but the combination of gentle rocking, the power of the Pinky Binky and the lullabies washing over her like a warm soothing shower will eventually get her to calm down long enough to quit fighting the falling asleep feeling and go with it.  This is one item we were glad to receive as a baby shower present to ourselves.

Mrs Frog will use the Boppy pillow for additional arm support while holding Cassie.  Uncle Frog is strong enough to hold our seven (almost eight!) pound baby daughter indefinitely.  Uncle Frog is strong like bull.  We’ll see how long this bull can hold out and not use the excellent support provided by the Boppy.
